Avalon Sailing Club
About the Club
The Avalon Sailing Club has its beginnings before World War II when a group of sailors raced VJs, VSs and Moths on the Clareville Beach. As membership grew in the late 1940s and early 1950s there was a need for a clubhouse. The clubhouse was built in 1956 and that site still remains today. The club is a family oriented sailing club, located on Pittwater, part of Sydney's Northern Beaches area. The Club prides itself as offering a small, friendly environment for people from seven to seventy, interested in all aspects of sailing - dinghy racing, yacht racing, cruising on the waterways of Broken Bay, the Hawkesbury River system.
